Sophie
Sophie is our number three cat. She was among a group of cats that hung around our back yard when we were stupidly leaving food our for the neighborhood outdoor cats. For a while we had as many as 10 or 15 cats hanging out. We finally realized that enough was enough an we stopped leaving food. All of the cat left except Sophie. She hunkered down and wouldn’t leave and we, of course, felt obligated to feed her which we did.
After awhile we realized that she was not leaving and we did not believe in leaving cats out doors. We already had two cats and couldn’t bring her indoors for fear of her having feline leukemia. Feline leukemia killed our first cat Flash so we knew it existed in our area. We decided that we needed to get her tested and then put her up for adoption. She was easily approached and not afraid so we felt she would be a good addition to someone’s home. We took her down to one of the local veterinarian offices where a friend work and offered to do the test.
In a short while our friend came out and gave us the good news that the cat was clear of any diseases. I looked at our friend and asked her what the chances of the cat being adopted at which point my wife burst into tears and Sophie became the third cat in our household.
We are not sure how old she is but expect somewhere between 13 and 15. If you’ve been following our postsyou know that Sophie has been fighting kidney disease. So far she is winning six months after we thought we were going to lose her. We do realized that every day is a blessing and we could loose her at any time.
